Today we lost Catherine O’Hara. I first saw her while watching reruns of SCTV on Nick at Nite sometime in the late-1980s/early-1990s. I was somewhere between 10 and 13 years old when I came to appreciate her. To be clear though, that entire cast (Candy, Duke, Flaherty, Levy, Martin, Moranis, O’Hara, Ramis, Rosato, Short, Thomas) should need no introduction. SCTV only existed for six seasons, but had a murderer’s row of talent that could stand toe-to-toe with any era of SNL.

O’Hara though, what a standout. From her writing and performing on SCTV, to her legendary 4-decade career of acting in movies and television. I challenge you to go through her IMDB and find a project where she was not the best part of the cast or did not give her all.

I existed at the same time in which Catherine O’Hara simultaneously existed and I am the lucky one.
