First off, my dear father made the trek to Pullman today to wish me a happy birthday. We had a nice lunch over at Pete’s, then sat around and talked for a couple hours. He also brought a freshly baked birthday cake prepared by my dear mother. Hell of a deal.
Unfortunately, the day wasn’t all rosy. The Mariners dropped another game to Pedro Martinez of Boston. Pedro is now 10-0 all time against the Mariners. Then in the NHL, Colorado lost to Detroit 5-3. It’s only the first game of that series, but I’m not sure what Colorado can do to slow down Detroit. The Red Wings are simply loaded with talent on every line, and I’m not sure the Avs are deep enough to beat them. Patrick Roy will have to carry this team, but it will be tough with Hasek dominating the other end.
